Entering the World of Arduino.

Ok, so I gave in and bought an Arduino Uno. I saw these first come out several years ago and figured I wold not have a use for them. But now that I am into amateur radio, there are several ideas floating in my head. Some of which are Foxhunting, automatic beacons,  CW Keyer, a voice keyer, trackers, many ideas.

So what is an Arduino?......

This is an Arduino

This one is a ATmega328 microcontroller based proto typing board. This model has 14 digital I/O lines, 6 of which can do PWM (pulse width modulation), 6 Analog inputs for various analog sensors, 0-5V DC I believe, and 32k of flash memory. I am still trying to figure out all the stuff. In addition to the main board, there are several different "Shields" or boards that plug into the top of the Arduino adding a wide variety of functions such as, DC motor control, AC relays, USB / Ethernet / Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, 3 axis gyros, direction finders, servo control. One of the first uses of the Arduino was adding an autopilot function to R/C airplanes and helicopters. Some can be programmed to follow a GPS route in the air, or even on the ground in a wheeled "Rover" The possibilities are endless.

So what am I going to use it for?  I have a few ideas, maybe a CW keyer? Maybe a Fox Hunt keyer? Remote solar powered weather station? And a few other ideas. if you would like to submit some ideas, just leave a comment below, maybe I can get to it.
