New amp = new DX?

Does a new amp = New DX? I hope so! Now don't get me wrong, I have worked some DX from my location, but due to the comprised antenna setup I have poor reach to the North and West, I do pretty good to the East and South. I can hear them, but I don't think they can hear me. I picked up a used Heathkit SB-200 as my first amp, and hopefully good learning experience. The SB-200 will put out about 600W +/- with just under 100W drive, just under 8dB gain. My TS-940 should have no issues driving it. I won't be using it full time, just when conditions present themselves, as I am still living in a less then friendly environment for antennas, and do not need to draw attention to my set up.
