Vanity Callsign

No Vanity Callsign this time.

Well, didn't get the callsign I put in for, W2YW, so for now I am still KC2ZPK, not that is is bad or anything. I currently don't see anything that I really like, so I am going to hold off for a little while. I will be checking in periodically as the site shows callsigns that are coming up 30 days in the future. I can probably check every other week and see what is on the horizon. Maybe next time!

Plenty of competetion for a Vanity callsign.

So I get up this morning to check the status of my vanity callsign application and I see that four others have applied for it as well. All but one of us have only one c allsign listed on their application. So it looks like my chances are one in five, might have to start looking for another call. I won't know the status for several days, maybe other apps will drop out for some reason.......  One can only hope.

Vanity callsign submitted

So I finally submitted my Vanity callsign Application. I finally settled on one that i thought I could get along with, and would roll off the tongue pretty well while on the radios. I am not going to reveal what it is, as I do not want to jinx myself. I will post an entry when I know for sure what's going on with it.

Vanity callsign, yet again

So the Vanity Call Sign bug is itching again. Well it has been for a couple of weeks now, I was trying to work some new DX with my new antenna I just put up. I was able to hear them just fine, as the noise level has dropped considerably since I put up the 80M OCF Dipole. Even with the SB-200 putting out 500W they should have been able to hear me, then I realized something. When I finish sending my call and swith back to recieve, I already hear the DX coming back to the local stations, almost every time! So I am back to comtemplating a vanity callsign.

To get a Vanity callsign or not?

That is the question... When I originally got my license in December 2010 I took the Tech exam with confidence that I would pass it, I also planned to take the General that evening as well, but I was not as confident, but felt I had a better then good chance of passing as well. As it turns out I passed both and became a General class Amateur on 12/28/2010, and received KC2ZPK as my call. A 2x3 call. While not too bad, I have see worse, It can be a mouth full when working a pileup.
